Time Change


things just keep
rolling around my mind
themes of time and change
leaving me in tears
with a smile on my face
as memories wash over me
visions of those
who’ve touched my life
for better or worse
for good or bad
and while it breaks my heart
to know what’s been done
and who i’ve lost along the way
i’m still most thankful
and all i look forward to
is tomorrow

Young Love


i’d seen them get off the bus
and walk down the street separately
a dozen times before

each day they seemed
to walk a little closer
eventually they began talking

the other day i noticed
their pace was much slower
i guess to make the time they shared last

yesterday they were laughing

and today they held hands

for the very first time

so full of life and joy
the excitement of falling in love

in witnessing their hope
i found my own
