Poetry - "You Shared Yourself"

You Shared Yourself

you shared yourself with me
kissing me
as though you were born to
your body wrapped around me
i was home
but even from inside
i could not touch your heart
if only i knew your soul
the way i knew your body
i could’ve seen you belonged
both heart and soul
to another
and to him you went
leaving me here

Poetry - "Pilgrimage"

Pilgrimage

early morning highway ride
alone in the darkness
the pilgrimage of thanksgiving
southern black night turns blue
through speakers,
a man and a guitar
weep in time and tune
soulful sorrow touch me
now i'm not alone
enjoying the journey
to the banquet of dysfunctional joy
where i shall look you in the eye

as we pray
and we eat
and we cry
