Poetry - "Madness By Candlelight"

Madness By Candlelight

innocence ended long ago
descent into madness began
dreams gave way
to a reality of chaotic conflicts
a journey of searching
became wandering and longing
pills powders fluid and smoke
provided light that only
blurred the darkness
an enlightenment yielding
a closed and tired mind
collapsing in on itself
black hole brain drawing
every negative particle into itself
good and evil mix
sin and virtue too
once oil and water
now the margarine of modernity
then you came along
seeking a ride on the dark side
and i was there
ready to fly
ready to cry
ready to die
seeking scintillating soulful sensations
we were soon lost
blinded by the shining darkness
given up to monsters who dwelt
within our candlelit madness
the journey of pleasure
led only to sadness
swam out of the sea of sorrow
and entered a world of pain
the soul of a scream
trapped inside the body of a whisper
a dreamer cast out
one step ahead of justice
one step behind redemption
and always lonely
but never alone
it is real demons that haunt me
not phony phantoms
lurking only in a dream
but living forces – monkeys of fire
that dance on my back
seeking only my ruin
and day by day
against them i must fight

Poetry - "Milk & Honey"

Milk & Honey

i’m sure your mouth
tastes like milk and honey
at the meeting of your thighs
a cup of sweet wine
skin as silk upon your frame
which you lovingly wrap
‘round mine
our souls caress
at the touching of our eyes
motion so tender
a dance that knows not time
in passion’s moment
i pour my life into you
becoming yours
and you
mine

Poetry - "Curvy"

Curvy

i'd love to ride
the road 'round her curves

bask
in her voluptuous sweetness

in my mind’s eye, i see her
emerging through the fog
shining radiance

i picture her
beneath a waterfall
lush foliage pierced by light

but the lasting image
a painting
of my lady languidly lounging

ripe fruit
placed at every curve

Poetry - "Power Outage"

Power Outage

the stars all sleep
above a blanket of clouds
which shed a gentle rain
embraced by earth below

sit silent in my room
writing by candlelight
for a storm has come
and taken my power away

the room bathed in glittering gold
the page awash in a soft warm glow

shadow of my hand
hides words from me
as i wonder how poets past
wrote in the night

hunched over a desk in near dark
thinking of what to say
i'd rather share a dream

a dream of her
sitting here
singing some soft lullaby
easing my fear

of being alone in the dark
no love to light the night
no sweet voice telling me
everything will be alright

only the memory of her lullaby
sweet song that dripped from her lips
which soothed my soul
and sent me softly to sleep

where i could have more dreams of her
as she was then
when i held her, kissed her
so long ago

instead i lay here wide awake
the ceiling my blank page
fireflies dancing outside the window
the candle's flame begins to flicker

with what little light i have
i find the light within

and suddenly

i fear no more
